Late-Race Incident Erases Solid Run for Mears, Jack Daniel’s Team

SONOMA, Calif. -- Casey Mears and the Jack Daniel’s team stuck to the plan crew chief Todd Berrier had devised specifically for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway and, with just six laps remaining, were looking at an 11th-place finish at least.

The No. 07 Chevrolet Impala SS getting spun out after contact by another car was, unfortunately, not part of the plan and Mears & Co. were left with a 23rd-place showing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series’ first of two road course races on the 2009 schedule. Read More!

Mears, Jack Daniel’s Chevy Persevere to Top 25 in Michigan

BROOKLYN, Mich. – Casey Mears and the Jack Daniel’s Racing team chased a car that wouldn’t respond to adjustments on pit road but still soldiered to a 24th-place finish in Sunday’s LifeLock 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

Despite the result, Mears maintained the 21st position in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship point standings. The Bakersfield, Calif., native now trails 20th-place Marcos Ambrose by 16 points and sits just 25 markers behind 19th-place Jamie McMurray. Meanwhile, Mears is a slim 32 points off of Dale Earnhardt Jr’s. 18th-place total. Read More!

LONG POND, Pa. – Casey Mears and the Jack Daniel’s Racing team parlayed a late-race gamble into a top-15 finish in Sunday’s Pocono 500 at Pocono Raceway.

The solid result was Mr. Jack’s Crew’s second top-15 showing in the last two races. While Mears maintained 21st in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points, the Bakersfield, Calif., native is now just two points behind Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 20th.

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Casey Mears and the Jack Daniel’s Racing team moved the needle in the right direction with a 20th-place finish in Saturday night’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

While the end result just missed the mark in terms of expectations, the top-20 effort earned the Bakersfield, Calif., native one position in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship point standings. Mears is now 38 points behind David Stremme in 20th, 57 back from Brian Vickers in 18th and 78 markers behind Richard Childress Racing teammate Kevin Harvick in 16th. Fort Worth, Texas – Early handling issues with the No. 07 Jack Daniel’s Chevrolet Impala SS overshadowed a strong run by Casey Mears in the Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

However, the 21st-place finish allowed Mr. Jack’s team to move up three positions, to 23rd, in the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings after seven of 36 points-paying events. Mears is now 43 points out of the top 20, 87 out of the top 15 and 147 out of the top 12. Read More!

Hampton, Ga. – Casey Mears overcame an uncooperative race car and dumb luck in the early goings of the Kobalt Tools 500 to battle back and notch a respectable 16th-place finish Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Mears went a lap down early and then lost another lap after a freak caution period for a wayward tire and the crewman who went to retrieve it. Daytona Beach, Fla. – Despite being caught up in a late-race incident, Casey Mears, driver of the Jack Daniel’s Chevy, finished 14th in yesterday’s first Gatorade Duel at Daytona 150-mile qualifying race.

The resulting damage kept the Bakersfield, Calif., native from making a charge at the leaders, but the end result was still good enough to secure the 25th starting position for Sunday’s 51st running of the Daytona 500. Read More!

RCR Names Drivers for ’09 Jack Daniel’s & General Mills Programs

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Aug. 23, 2008) -- Richard Childress Racing announced today that Casey Mears will drive for its No. 07 Jack Daniel’s® team and Clint Bowyer will move to its new No. 33 Cheerios®/Hamburger Helper® team for the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.
